“As a Man Thinketh, So he Is?” Proverbs 23:7
After Michael passed, I've given a lot of thought to why he believed in such a way, that it could lead someone, as smart as he was (IQ of 140), to buy in to the addictions that led him to such self-destruction ways for so long. You’d think the self-reinforcement of one bad trip to the next would snap him out of his lifestyle, but it did just the opposite. Why continue to Double Down time after time ending up in a worse place than before?
Michael had some Stinking Thinking?
Then I thought of all the ways I responded to Michael over the years trying to get him to Rehab and to change his life. I listened to all of the Dr. Phil shows and went to receive counseling on numerous occasions—and as a result, I behaved in ways that may have led him further down to his demise.
Turned out, Dad had some Stinking Thinking as well.
Now I look back and instead of asking why I think or thought the way he and I do or did, it turns out I should have been asking “When” I began to think the way we do and why it is so hard to Change.
Moral of the Story—We should all learn to Challenge what we believe as it may cost us everything if we don’t.
If you don’t know how you got here, U Just got to go back there and fix it!
